IRONMAN LanzaroteVerified
IRONMAN Lanzarote: 182 km bike leg, 2371 m of climbing. Elevation profile, what the terrain asks of you, the weather this race day usually brings, and how to pace this course.
Course intel
Famously hard across the whole series: a big loop of the volcanic island, with the Timanfaya volcanic zone and the long climbs in the north adding up to 2600 m of elevation gain, plus the Atlantic trade winds working on you almost the entire way. The wind wears you down more than the climbs, and section-by-section wind pacing is worth the most here.

Speed score
There is a climb longer than 2 km out there: go in at an intensity you can hold to the top, and only add past halfway if you feel good. Riders who go hard from the bottom mostly bleed speed in the back half.
