IRONMAN Philippines · Davao City: 181 km bike leg, 492 m of climbing. Elevation profile, what the terrain asks of you, the weather this race day usually brings, and how to pace this course.
Course intel
Three counter-clockwise laps on the Davao City coastal highway, three U-turns per lap (Inawayan Bridge, Sta. Ana Bridge, MacArthur Highway), almost entirely flat: about 490 m of elevation gain within a band of under 30 m. June in the southern Philippines is hot and humid, so heat management comes first, and don't rush to make up power after each U-turn. The race has moved here from Subic Bay.

The terrain on this course
- Flat (±1.2%) makes up 85%
- No significant climbing: what matters is handling the wind and holding your power steady
Speed score
The real threat this day is heat: drink on schedule and pour water over yourself from the first mile, and keep power 3–5% conservative. Once core temperature climbs, you are not getting it back down mid-race.
Historical race-day weather (around 06-13): 29.8°C · Wind 2.5 m/s
0 to 100, and the higher it is the easier it is to post a good time. Points come off for terrain, for corners, and for the heat and wind this race has actually had over the last five years at the same time of year. Full explanation in the article “How the course score works”.
